elfutils software package provides collection of utilities to handle ELF objects, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install elfutils
elfutils is installed in your system.
Make ensure the elfutils package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep elfutils *
You will get with elfutils package name, version, architecture and description in a table
